I am a PhD student at Columbia University in the Department of History. My research is on labor, gender, and the development of industrial capitalism in the United States during the Gilded Age and Progressive Era. In particular, I am interested in how the wageless, from housewives to the unemployed, articulated distinct ideas about class and workplace control. My writing has been published in The Nation and is forthcoming in Labor.
